Much like Bush's explanation, McCain's is not much better. For a while he tried to portray himself as the not-President Bush choice for the GOP. With each passing decision, he seems more like the current President, and less like the maverick who could have had broad support. McCain deserves to have his campaign fall to pieces.

I once imagined that I would likely vote for McCain if he ran.
It's as if he was beaten by the evil Empire in 2000 and decided to join it rather than fight it. His campaign is dead in the water.
