  Read the soldier's blog post further down the article. It is chilling by how much it resembles post-Vietnam experiences.

    Unsurprising, really. The people who sent these soldiers off to this war didn't learn the lessons of Vietnam, because they had "other priorities" during that time.

  War changes things, and war changes people. Most of the changes are unintended ; only sometimes are they predictable. IMHO, the biggest folly is believing that one can restrict the consequences of war to favorable ones.

  this article made me real sad and brought a personal touch to what people are enduring from the war. I personally cannot stand people with the bumper stickers, those who said "I support the war", because when you ask them what are they doing to "support" the answer has been 100% nothing in my personal experience. Even the most hard headed bush supporters do nothing. I don't support the war in Iraq, but I have asked my friend who support being at war to send stuff to our soldier and to write or anything after I subtituted in for a class that did that. That was 2 years ago, she still supports Bush, but has in no way supported our soldiers so far. She does not visit families, or write, or send anything. This bring new urgency, and renews my desire to help. I am going to find more to do to help.

  As former military wife I feel for everyone seperated from their spouses. I also believe that there are two kinds of military wives after my 8yrs of experince,there are military wives who love their spouses and those who do not! Being that most are very young and have no idea about marriage! War changes things,yes,but so does life even without a war when it comes to marriage! Where was all this worry about military wives before the war? They were still alone while their spouse was off training for months. They still alone then did you care?!

    Marriage is much more complex than when men went to war in say ww2 because there was strong justification for doing it...out

    right evil.

    Marriage is expected to go 40-50years now which it never had to before but the odd time it did. Roles were more defined back then.

  This kind of thing happened in all wars. It is sad but true there are some things that need to be done. If this ladies husband or any of the military that is on active duty now did not feel they should fight in any conflict why are they still in, or why did they sign up at all?that is why they call it the armed services,becouse at some point of thime you may be expected to do things like war. I realy do feel bad for the ones that are comming back with problems. Maybe the one who wrote this story should look to the GOD she mentioned for guidence.

  I still say that some of you people that sit here and bad mouth the administration realy need to get out of the comfort of the good old USA and see the rest of the world the way it realy is
